Annapurna Base Camp Trek Cost 2027: What You Will Really Pay

The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek is one of the most popular walks in Nepal, and it is also one of the easiest to budget for. The trail is short, the teahouses are well established, and you can start from Pokhara without a domestic flight. Still, the final price depends on how you travel, so here is a clear breakdown for 2027.

Prices change from year to year, so please treat the figures below as typical ranges, not fixed quotes.

Quick answer

A standard guided ABC trek of 10 to 14 days usually costs roughly US$800 to US$1,300 per person, depending on the guide, the number of days and the hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Our own 13-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek starts from US$923 per person. Open the package page to see what is included, and message us if you want the price confirmed for your dates.

What makes up the cost

Item Typical cost
Annapurna Conservation Area permit (ACAP) About NPR 3,000 (roughly US$20 to US$25) when bought in advance; it costs more at a check post
TIMS card About NPR 1,000 through an agency or NPR 2,000 independently, where it is issued for this route
Pokhara to Nayapul (trailhead) Shared jeep roughly US$10 to US$30; private jeep roughly US$80 to US$150
Licensed guide Roughly US$25 to US$35 per day
Porter (carries up to two bags) Roughly US$15 to US$20 per day
Teahouse room Roughly US$7 to US$20 per night lower down, US$25 to US$30 near Annapurna Base Camp
Meals and drinks on the trail Roughly US$20 to US$35 per day

Guided or independent?

An independent budget trek from Pokhara can look cheap on paper, but low estimates often leave out a guide, a porter, insurance, gear and tips. A guide alone adds a few hundred dollars over the whole trek. In return you get someone who knows the trail, handles lodges and permits, watches your health at altitude and keeps the trek moving if weather or landslides change the plan.

If you only want help with logistics, ask us for a quote that covers just the permits, transport and a guide, and leave out the hotels you prefer to book yourself.

Best time for the ABC trek

March to May and late September to November are the best seasons. Spring brings blooming rhododendrons and warmer days, while autumn gives the clearest mountain views. The monsoon (June to August) brings leeches and cloudy views, and deep winter can close the upper section with snow.

Frequently asked questions

How many days do I need for the Annapurna Base Camp trek?

Most itineraries take 7 to 12 days on the trail. Our 13-day package includes arrival, travel to Pokhara and a spare day for the return to Kathmandu.

Is the ABC trek suitable for beginners?

Yes, if you are fit and walk 5 to 7 hours a day without trouble. The highest point is about 4,130 m, so take altitude seriously and walk slowly above 3,000 m.

Do I need a guide for Annapurna Base Camp?

The route is well marked and many people trek it independently, but a guide is strongly recommended for first-time trekkers and for anyone short on time.
